Let me summarize how life has become even more difficult in the past 24 hours. First of all, Supermum lost her job yesterday. Just like that, my parents are both unemployed and we are uninsured come May. How can hard-working, honest, creative, energetic and thoughtful people be dismissed? What kind of mother-fucking, conservative, gun-toting jerks dismiss my mom, the most tolerant, easy-going person I know? I can’t wrap my mind around it, so I’ll leave it at that for now.
Secondly, I really like my nutritionist, but even I cannot fully appreciate one’s expertise when one tells me that I cannot consume starches of any sort for a month. After that month of letting my stomach and other organs heal, I can try and see how much starch I can tolerate.
This is all too intense to dwell on right now, so I’m signing off. I usually wouldn’t say something like this: but keep us in your thoughts.

NEDAwareness Day 3: Life Of A Runner
Running is one of my biggest passions. It has been a part of my life since I was in high school and discovered that I was fast at the 800m run. Since running my first 800 when I was 14 I have moved upwards to 5K’s, 10K’s, running at the collegiate level, and marathons. I …
NEDAwareness: Day 1
Today starts National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. My goal this week is to be real, raise awareness, and help others to see that Eating Disorders are not only prevalent, they are rampant. To start I have attached an infographic to this post describing the prevalence of males and eating disorders. 10 million males in the …
NEDA Week: Day 4: Dr. Who?
I used to watch the show Dr. Who religiously! I LOVED it. But for those of you who don’t know who Dr. Who is…that is …

Narcissism And Eating Disorders
Norman Rockwell Based on meta-analysis of Cassin & Ranson, 2005, narcissistic personality disorder is diagnosed in 2% to16% of eating disorder patients, with the lower estimate of 2% arising from the more reliable assessment procedures. Research suggests that bulimic attitudes and behaviors are associated with classic narcissistic personality traits (Brunton, Lacey, and Waller, 2005), …
My Thoughts On Lululemon
Last week, yoga/fitness/lifestyle clothier Lululemon’s founder Chip Wilson made a huge body image/weight stigma blunder by refusing to take any responsibility when accused of poor product construction. Instead, he blamed yoga pant pilling on poorly constructed women. “Some women’s bodies just actually don’t work,” he said. “It’s about the rubbing through the thighs.” It’s not the …
My Recovery Mascot
* I love the idea of creating your own recovery mascot. I thought long about what would represent my way to health for me. Would it be human or an animal? Real or fictional? What would it stand for exactly? Then one thought popped into my head: our inner child. I have come to understand …
My Other, My Selfy
No this isn’t a tribute to Nancy Friday’s best seller, My Mother Myself, although at the time that book came out it was a ground breaking read for women everywhere! This is about a disturbing new app that is now available on Apple that I would like to call your attention to and perhaps convince …
