Let me summarize how life has become even more difficult in the past 24 hours. First of all, Supermum lost her job yesterday. Just like that, my parents are both unemployed and we are uninsured come May. How can hard-working, honest, creative, energetic and thoughtful people be dismissed? What kind of mother-fucking, conservative, gun-toting jerks dismiss my mom, the most tolerant, easy-going person I know? I can’t wrap my mind around it, so I’ll leave it at that for now.
Secondly, I really like my nutritionist, but even I cannot fully appreciate one’s expertise when one tells me that I cannot consume starches of any sort for a month. After that month of letting my stomach and other organs heal, I can try and see how much starch I can tolerate.
This is all too intense to dwell on right now, so I’m signing off. I usually wouldn’t say something like this: but keep us in your thoughts.

Momeries
I already wrote my 2012 Mother’s Day Blog Post, but I received a few emails asking if I would re-post my 2011 Mother’s Day Blog Post. So here it is! My mom hated her body. I knew it at a … Continue reading → I already wrote my 2012 Mother’s Day Blog Post, but I …
Mmm, Banana Muffins
It’s been a busy week. Last week I went to the gym and was shown round the equipment by a trainer. It was great because now I can walk in there without thinking too much about it and hop on a machine and get going. Before I had to stand on the cross trainer and …
Mind The Gap
Fall into The Gap. If you read those words and in your mind you heard a baritone singing them then you remember the old commercial jingle for The Gap. And for years I did my share of falling into The Gap and Old Navy with relatively little trauma. But things are different now. For what …

Managing The August Effect…Again
I originally wrote this post in 2012 and have decided to post it again for two reasons. The first is that I have recently been managing a series of difficult and time consuming family challenges and have not had time to devote to blogging. The second is I am about to have a book reading/ …
Making The Best Of Your Circumstances
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or …

Love Your Body Day
Today is the 15th annual Love Your Body Day, a campaign started by N.O. W. (The National Organization of Women). In Dr. Deah’s Hollywood every day would be LYBD, but starting with one day is a great idea. Join me in taking one day off from negative thoughts about your miraculous body and indulging in …
Love Life Limerick
There was a young girl scared to live, Who thought the world nothing worth to give. She awoke one day and saw The beauty of life in awe. That’s when she started to forgive. This was a fun little creative exercise. I’d love for you to create your own limerick and if you’re brave enough …
Love Is The Key To Recovery
Having an eating disorder means having a severe lack or even a complete deficiency of self-love. We hate everything about ourselves, our bodies and our lives. We cannot understand how people would even want to be around us and we can hardly stand living with ourselves. Engaging in eating disordered behavior is a way of …
