Let me summarize how life has become even more difficult in the past 24 hours. First of all, Supermum lost her job yesterday. Just like that, my parents are both unemployed and we are uninsured come May. How can hard-working, honest, creative, energetic and thoughtful people be dismissed? What kind of mother-fucking, conservative, gun-toting jerks dismiss my mom, the most tolerant, easy-going person I know? I can’t wrap my mind around it, so I’ll leave it at that for now.
Secondly, I really like my nutritionist, but even I cannot fully appreciate one’s expertise when one tells me that I cannot consume starches of any sort for a month. After that month of letting my stomach and other organs heal, I can try and see how much starch I can tolerate.
This is all too intense to dwell on right now, so I’m signing off. I usually wouldn’t say something like this: but keep us in your thoughts.

Facebook Ads – Take Back Your Feed

As I blogged about recently, a study earlier this year found that Facebook use was associated with an increased risk for disordered eating. While there are likely multiple pathways associated with this relationship, let’s take a critical look at some of the ads that might pop up on your daily Facebook feed. I hope that I …

Just four months after April Dunlap began dieting, her parents and doctor determined that she was losing too much weight. Exercise In Peace

Coming to the end of a challenging spin class, our instructor walked us through the readouts on the gym’s new bike consoles. “Now look down at the most important number on your console: the calories.” I disagree. As a fitness professional, I think the most important number on the bike console is the watts, how …

ED Awareness Week 2013: Where Are All My Binge Eaters?

I haven’t got an Eating Disorder because I’m not thin. I just need to eat a sandwich. I haven’t got an Eating Disorder, I’m just greedy. I make myself throw up for vanity reasons, I just don’t want to get fat. Upon finally reading through my emails which I’d avoided doing for weeks, I found …

EATING DISORDERS….THE SMALLER THE APPETITE, THE BIGGER THE VICTIM.

There was a time believe it not when MTV aired music videos, and not programs about teenagers who were conceiving.  As a matter of fact when I was growing up the show would not be called 16 and pregnant, but “Oh my god, my life is screwed.” Today however it’s just considered normal. Our younger generation has …

Eating Disorders Statistics | Welcome To The Danger Zone

It’s amazing to me how resilient the human body is. I don’t think people realize how much it fights for your  basic survival.
