Let me summarize how life has become even more difficult in the past 24 hours. First of all, Supermum lost her job yesterday. Just like that, my parents are both unemployed and we are uninsured come May. How can hard-working, honest, creative, energetic and thoughtful people be dismissed? What kind of mother-fucking, conservative, gun-toting jerks dismiss my mom, the most tolerant, easy-going person I know? I can’t wrap my mind around it, so I’ll leave it at that for now.
Secondly, I really like my nutritionist, but even I cannot fully appreciate one’s expertise when one tells me that I cannot consume starches of any sort for a month. After that month of letting my stomach and other organs heal, I can try and see how much starch I can tolerate.
This is all too intense to dwell on right now, so I’m signing off. I usually wouldn’t say something like this: but keep us in your thoughts.

Fatness: A Public Health Crisis?
Hey Tweet Peeps, Do you have plans for Friday, December 13th, at 1pm EST? If not, join the Academy for Eating Disorders’ upcoming TweetChat! We will be hosting UCLA sociology professor and author Dr. Abigail Saguy, who wrote the book, What’s Wrong With Fat? released earlier this year. (Hint: Buy it–it’s good!) I’m honored to be …
Fatima Parker: Activist Extraordinaire!
For those of you who have been following my blog you may recall that I wrote about my summer visit to the UK and Holland. It was a delightful experience learning more about the Fat Acceptance movement that is alive and thriving in Europe. (If you would like to get up to speed on those, …
FATigued: Finding A Second Wind In Body Acceptance.
I am tired. The endless intrusion of diet mandates and body hating messages that wheedle their way into my world via billboards, television, radio, movies, magazines, books, blogs, trolls, and the insidious drive by shoutings has left me fatigued. Considering we are in beach-body-season, this is to be expected…and I know that because this is …
Fat Shame
Fat Is NOT A Feeling…
You cannot BE FAT. Fat is a substance and you can’t ever be a substance! Whenever you feel fat, ask yourself what you are really feeling in this moment. Scared? Tired? Frustrated? Jealous? Lonely? Anxious? Depressed? Tired? What is the root cause of your feeling? I always felt inadequate, lonely, depressed and simply not enough …
Fat Girl Costumes
(photo via Jezebel) This week, Walmart landed itself in the latest controversy involving bodies and advertising. As Jezebel fist reported, the megastore’s online catalog featured a section of Halloween apparel called, “Fat Girl Costumes.” Jezebel speculated the heading may have been a web developer joke that eluded final editing. As a joke, this heading is offensive. But, …
Fat Chick Mentality
Reblogged from Sass & Balderdash: I’ve been everywhere on the overweight spectrum; I’ve ranged from being chubby to being obese for most of my life. It’s only within the past year that I’ve lost weight and fought, scratched, and clawed my way into smaller proportions. I’m all too familiar with the fruitless pursuit of reasonably …
Fashion Weak
Every February New York City hosts an international extravaganza of fashion. Year after year despite an increasing amount of public protest and outrage about the lack of size diversity of the models, the images associated with Fashion Week remain unchanged. Recently, however, Israel decided to ban models who have BMI’s under 18.5%, Denmark is considering …
FAMILY AND EATING DISORDERS–WHOEVER SAID BLOOD WAS THICKER THAN WATER WAS NOT RELATED TO ME.
I was driving to work today, and I saw something that gave me a quick flashback of my childhood. It was a station wagon, and in the back were 3 little girls. My two younger sisters and I spent more time in the back of my Mom’s Blue Ford Station wagon then I can remember. …
