It’s amazing to me how resilient the human body is. I don’t think people realize how much it fights for your  basic survival. It’s the animal instinct we all are born with. We will almost do anything possible to fight for our life.

I suppose that the ones who could tell you what it feels like to really fight are somebody who has survived cancer, had a body part cut off, or was severely burned in a fire, or has survived a brutal rape. I bet they could tell you how each day they were grateful their bodies fought to keep them alive.

Human beings become Gladiators when faced with their own mortality, it’s probably one of the scariest feelings alive.

This is why it is very fascinating to see how ignorant, blindfolded, and totally in denial people with eating disorders can be about pushing their bodies to very scary limits.

Now I will totally be the first person to tell you for a very long time I was standing in the front of that line.

When I was thick in my eating disorder I always had this “it’s never going to happen to me” attitude going on.

I was like that kid who never feared jumping off the roof, because he thought he could fly.

The sad fact is Eating Disorders are not just about being too heavy, being too thin, or throwing up everything you eat. This disorder is as deathly as poison, and once it enters your body, its only mission is to shut it down.

It has been reported that  5 – 10% of anorexics die within 10 years after contracting the disease, and then 18-20% of anorexics will be dead after 20 years

The mortality rate associated with anorexia nervosa is 12 times higher than the death rate of ALL causes of death for females 15 – 24 years old.

Most of these are due to heart attack and suicide.

Overweight and obesity are the fifth leading risk for global deaths. At least 2.8 million adults die each year as a result of being overweight or obese. In addition, 44% of the diabetes burden, 23% of the ischaemic heart disease burden and between 7% and 41% of certain cancer burdens are attributable to overweight and obesity.

I know I am throwing out numbers, but these are the hard plain facts.

What you put your body through to maintain an eating disorder is something I believe more people should be educated on.

Yes it will destroy your life on the outside, but it is also destroying your life on the inside.

If somebody with an eating disorder could turn themselves inside out for just one day they would see what I am talking about.

There is is this excellent exhibition that travels to museums called Bodies…I don’t know if you have heard of it? Anyway it’s amazing because this is what they do.

The Exhibition offers a close and informative view into the human body. Using an innovative preservation process, the Exhibition allows you to see the human body’s inner self to educate people how amazing the inside of your body just is. It’s up close and personal. The Exhibitions have over 200 actual human bodies and specimens meticulously dissected and respectfully displayed, offering an crazy cool view into into the body.

Some of the specimens are arranged so that they are performing activities such as playing poker or conducting an orchestra. Along the way are other displays showing a human intestine stretched out, the polluted lung of an adult smoker, and all of the arteries and veins without the body itself. The exhibit of the polluted lung of the smoker also includes a clear standing box in which guests can discard their cigarettes and tobacco products after viewing the display.

I really think they should have the body of somebody who has had anorexia, bulimia, or severe obesity.

I think it would open so many peoples eyes to how you literally are a walking demolition site from the inside.

I know if the day ever occurred I would donate mine. Although in recovery and although a stable weight, and although in pretty good health my body took a severe hit. It basically had become chaparral and the process was extremely delicate.

Thank god I came to Rader where they knew what they were doing in that department. Other programs almost killed me trying to repair me to fast.

Anyway I did really bad things to my body that should have killed it, and in my next blog I will explain to you just how, and the price I have to pay for it today.  I am also going to tell you how if you keep practicing your Eating Disorder literally turns you into a ticking time bomb. The more you push the limits, the faster you tick, and  the faster you tick the higher the chances that at any given minute, you could go off.
