Anorexia’s Childhood Roots
Isabelle Caro, known as “the face of anorexia,” tells us about her childhood and how it caused her to become one of the thinnest women ever. She says that her father was absent and her mother was severely depressed. Her mother had an irrational fear that Isabel would grow, so she kept her indoors, away from fresh air (which she thought made children grow). This caused Isabel to do everything she could to stay small, and at one point, she was only eating a couple squares of chocolate and five cornflakes. Watch and listen to Isabel’s entire story.
