I am not sure what article you are referring to, but you may have misread the wording, to read “vitamins” and not “vitamin s”. There is not a vitamin that our bodies need or use that is labeled as vitamin ‘S’.
There are 13 main vitamins that our bodies need:
They are vitamins A, C, D, E, K and the B vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin, vitamin B-6, vitamin B-12 and folate). You can usually get all your vitamins from the foods you eat. Your body can also make vitamins D and K. People who eat a vegetarian diet may need to take a vitamin B12 supplement.
Sometimes, ‘Salicylic Acid’ is referred to as Vitamin S, but it is not a recognized nutrient that the body needs to survive. It is used in some cleansers and acne preparations, but only for external use.
