Hi Jessie:
There are many iPhone applications available to help you take care of type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Some of these applications are free, and others cost money. Understandably, the more detailed applications are the ones that must be purchased.
One popular iPhone application that I found for diabetic meal planning, is the Diabetic Meal Planner Lite – Glycemic Index which was released in February, 2010. It calculates the overall glycemic index (GI) and load (GL) for each meal throughout the day, and assists you to put together a healthy balanced diabetic friendly diet. The only drawback to the free version is that it contains just 38 food items in the database, whereas the full version which must be purchased, offers 975 food items.
There are other iPhone applications which provide similar assistance for anyone coping with diabetes. Some include the ability to enter glucose readings, insulin dosages, and physical activity. Other applications focus on support and networking, including the ability to share your blood sugar test results via e-mail or text.
New iPhone applications become available all the time as technology improves. For more information on some of the applications described here, visit http://www.diabeteshealth.com and check out free iPhone diabetes applications.
Hope this helps.
