Hi:

Yes, there is help available.

You describe yourself as feeling disgusted by anything connected to food (smell, taste, appearance, etc.). Have these feelings translated into an eating disorder such as anorexia, or do you force yourself to eat what you can in order to maintain your weight?

The reason I ask, is because there are a number of conditions that can contribute to the feelings that you are describing. With a little more information, it is absolutely possible to get the help you need to cope with these unpleasant feelings regarding food.

Eating disorders are extremely complex, and require professional intervention in order to re-learn how to manage feelings and emotions around food and return to a regular diet consisting of healthy, balanced nutrition. The good news is that there is a lot of help out there! Counselors, nutritionists, family doctors, therapists (available on this site) are just a few of the options available for you to connect with some professional guidance.

You have already completed the first step (acknowledging that the problem exists) – well done! It takes a lot of courage to admit that you have a problem. Please follow through with seeing a health professional so that you do not have continue experiencing these difficult feelings surrounding food.

Wishing you well.
