I am 28 years old and have been dealing with anorexia for the past 5 years. Is it true that I can get help into recovery if I get put on a strict nutrition plan or is that just part of the recovery?

If I Understand You

If I understand you correctly, you are asking about the benefits of a ‘meal plan’ when you are in treatment/recovery from anorexia.
It’s very important when a person begins treatment or recovery, that the disordered patterns of eating are interrupted, so that healing can begin. Beginning a specific plan for eating, that is consistent every day is very helpful for most people. This must be a plan with adequate calories to maintain a healthy weight, or to gain to a healthy weight, also with adequate dietary fat for optimum health. It’s helpful for many reasons, one being that if the plan is in place, the focus can be given to other issues also, instead of obsessing about food and weight the entire time.
So, yes, it’s part of recovery, but it doesn’t have to last forever. It is critical that a professional be involved in implementing this and monitoring a person’s treatment.
