‘Curves’ Book Celebrates Beauty Of Women In All Shapes And Sizes

As a fashion photographer who is all-too familiar with Photoshop, Victoria Janashvili wanted to showcase the idea that women of all shapes and sizes can be appealing, stunning and beautiful.

The result of this desire culminated in a
Kickstarter campaign for the funding of “Curves,” an art photography book that celebrates “curves, and boobs, and hips, and, yes, booties.”

The work includes pictures of different types of models that demonstrate beauty in all of its forms.

“Even though the average American woman is a size 12, media still usually sets the standards of beauty at a smaller woman, making women, beautiful, healthy women…feel an unjust pressure,” Janashvili wrote.

‘A healthy and more relatable model’

With work that has appeared in spreads for GQ, Maxim, Cosmopolitan and Esquire magazines, Janashvili’s personal projects have always focused less on maintaining the skinny status quo and more on portraying a “healthy and more relatable model.”

However, “Curves” isn’t about only showcasing plus-sized or heavier-than-normal models, but celebrating women of all body types.

The hope, Janashvili said, is for women to look at themselves differently through the inspirational models bravely baring their skin in the book.

“A book of [this] sort has not been made before and we strongly believe that it sends a very strong message that would spread love, happiness and relief,” Janashvili concluded. “In today’s society the suicidal rate is the highest in recorded history and it’s mostly appearance based. This means that by spreading an image of a realistic and beautiful body that women of all ages can relate to and find beautifully portrayed we can save some lives.”
