The biggest part of self help for eating disorders is seeking help. Recognizing the problem oneself and changing to a healthy lifestyle is the best thing that a patient can do to overcome an eating disorder.

Other self help methods to overcome eating disorders are to learn from various resources available in libraries and online. Online forums are non confrontational places where patients can overcome and help others who suffer overcome their eating disorders. The patient must consult a physician or approach one of the many voluntary agencies that focus on helping patients with eating disorders. By attending meetings of support groups, The patient can share and get help in solving their eating disorder problems. Patients would do well to enlist the help of their family. If patients feel that they are in too deep in the disorder, they should approach a rehab center for complete recovery through medical supervision.
