Study On Mindfulness On Eating Patterns And Attitudes

Researcher: Jennifer Bruha, MACP, MAP, Institute of Transpersonal Psychology

Through a series of surveys, this study asks women ages 18-50 about their eating patterns & attitudes, and asks them to rate their levels of inner and outer body experience, mindfulness, & behaviors related to body image.

You are invited to participate in a web-based study. This study examines the relationships between body experience and mindfulness on women with eating disorders. Body experience is defined as inner and outer body awareness, with a focus on sensations and feelings. Mindfulness is defined as attention and awareness in the here-and-now.

This study also examines body-image disturbance, which is generally defined as a disturbance in how accurately an individual perceives their body image and an over-evaluation and preoccupation with body weight and shape. Individuals with eating disorders usually perceive their bodies as being and looking different from reality. However, you do not have to have an eating disorder to participate in this study.
