Spotting the Similarities of Bulimia and Anorexia

The most common symptom shared by both Bulimia and Anorexia sufferers is having a distorted perception of their body image. They are often highly conscious of their body that they want to achieve a certain standard of perfection to fit into a mould which they perceived to be the best body that they must have.

Bulimics and anorexics sees their abdominal and pelvic areas as grossly oversized and urgently feel that they have to correct these seemingly anatomical imperfections by not eating, purging, vomiting, compulsive exercising and taking laxatives and diet pills.

You can spot bulimics and anorexics because aside from exhibiting unusual eating practices, they have brokine blood vessels in the eyes, swollen salivary glands, dry mouth , disease gums and complains of cavities in their teeth.

They may also exhibit rashes and pimples, and small cuts and calluses across the tops of finger joints. Oftentimes there is unexplained weight loss, irregular menstruation in females, orthopedic problems in dancers and athletes.

There are also bulimics and anorexics who keep their addiction a secret from other people. They refuse to eat in front of others and the only signs that can indicate that they are having problems are thinning hair due to excessive hair loss, distressed and bloated stomach, poor memory and easily confused, and a hypersensitivity to cold.
