Join The ‘Sock It’ Campaign For National Eating Disorders Awareness Week
National Eating Disorders Awareness Week begins Feb. 23, and getting involved in the “Sock It to Eating Disorders” campaign is the perfect way to show solidarity.
The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) will be joining other organizations across the country to support “Perfect As You Are” a company that makes clothing and accessories designed to empower girls to be “confident and beautiful both inside and out.”
The company will be donating $1 to NEDA for every pair of socks purchased, which come printed with affirmations like “I am fearless” or “I am beautiful.”
“The ‘Sock It campaign’ is a symbol of hope and healing as well as a message that we can come together to make a difference in the lives of those affected by eating disorders,” NEDA’s website stated.
The idea behind the “Sock It” campaign was inspired by Joan Riederer, a woman who lost her daughter Erin to anorexia.
There are many ways to get involved with the campaign
While you can purchase socks from Perfect As You Are (use the promo code SOCKIT at checkout), you can also get involved with the campaign by simply purchasing “the craziest, most colorful socks you can find” and holding your own event to raise donations or awareness for eating disorders, NEDA reports.
You can also download the free guide, “How to Sock It to Eating Disorders,” for more detailed information about participating in the campaign.
Join the Facebook Group to share photos of your socks and connect with other supporters.
