The Art Of Happiness
Happiness requires that you are satisfied that your mind deals with people and events in a rational manner, says psychologist Dr. Ellen Keller.
Have you thought about happiness much lately?
Are you happy?
When was the last time you were happy?
“Happiness is an emotion. So is sadness, love, hate, curiosity, revulsion, excitement, jealousy, contentment, depression, anxiety, fear, guilt and anger. All emotions have causes, causes which can be understood and controlled. The emotion of happiness is not caused simply by entertaining your desire for pleasure, or instant gratifications. Happiness is not merely a life lived by accumulating moments of pleasure. On the contrary, happiness is a long lasting enduring enjoyment of life, it is being in love with living. It is your reward for achieving a good character and personal rational values in life. Some important values are a productive career, romance, friendship and hobbies.”
In other words, Dr. Kenner is saying that happiness is a choice that you can make regardless of your life circumstance. You can choose to be happy. You can choose to make decisions that will impact your career, education, friendships, romantic relationships and other interests that will lead to greater joy and fulfillment.
