Some people with eating disorders will use artificial substances to attempt to decrease their appetite or give them more energy. Caffeine effects are common problems in people with eating disorders. These substances stimulate the central nervous system of the body and can cause addiction.

Along with laxatives, ipecac, and diuretics, this is another substance that, after taking it for a short time, your body will become use to and it will then require more-and-more diet pills to get the same effect. Diet pills can range from the typical ones that you see at the store such as Dexatrim, to “diet pills in disguise” such as caffeine pills that are used as appetite suppressants.

Addiction to caffeine effects can include dizziness, jitteriness, insomnia, and high blood pressure. Below are more symptoms:

  • Headaches
  • Vomiting
  • Shallow Breathing
  • Blurred Vision
  • Hallucinations
  • Convulsions/Seizures
  • Fatigue
  • Chest Pains
