Would You Rather?

We play a silly game at our house that goes something like this:

Would you rather have a nose that you could squirt ketchup from or a belly button pencil sharpener?

Would you rather have blue hair or a nose ring?

Would you rather have a be able to fly or be invisible?

You get the drift – it’s not complicated. It is, however, a fun dinner table game, and one we often get waitresses involved in if we’re eating out.

Would you rather eat your favorite food every single meal for the rest of your life – but only that food and none other or would you rather never eat that food again?

Ok, you get it by now. I just like playing it.

New research asked a similar question.
Would you give up a year of your life to have a perfect body?

The answer probably won’t surprise you.

Millions of women are so unhappy with their weight that they would trade at least a year of their life for the perfect body, according to a survey of female students aged 18 to 65 at British universities.

How many? Almost one in three would be willing to die younger in exchange for the ‘ideal’ figure of the likes of model Kelly Brook or actress Scarlett Johansson.

What’s even worse is that 2 percent are willing to give up a decade, and one percent say they’d give up at least 21 years in exchange for a slimline shape. 7 per cent would give up their health to achieve their ideal shape.

The bigger question to ask ourselves is – what have we already given up? Our health? Our self-esteem? Our relationships? How much more are we going to give up before we just live?
